The following is a statement of Malvern International PLC’s health and safety policy in accordance with Section 2 of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.
It is the policy of Malvern International PLC to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of all employees, students, contractors and visitors, and of any other persons who may be affected by our activities.
Malvern International acknowledges that the key to successful health and safety management requires an effective policy, organisation and arrangements which reflect the commitment of the organisation’s management. To maintain that commitment, we continually measure, monitor, improve and revise our health and safety arrangements to ensure that standards are properly maintained across all our sites and activities.
Responsibilities
The Board of Malvern International PLC retains ultimate accountability for health and safety performance across the Group. Operational responsibility for the implementation and oversight of this policy rests with the Chief Operating Officer, supported by the Group Health and Safety Coordinator and subsidiary leadership teams across the Group.
Malvern International recognises that successful health and safety management contributes to successful business and educational performance and will allocate adequate finances and resources to meet these needs.
The promotion of health and safety is of fundamental importance to us, and it is our policy to do all that is reasonably practicable to prevent personal injury and damage to property. The organisation aims to protect everyone including students, visitors and members of the public insofar as they come into contact with our activities, from any foreseeable hazard or danger.
All employees have duties under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and are informed of their personal responsibility to take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions. Employees are also required to cooperate with the organisation so that it can comply with the legal requirements placed upon it and with the implementation of this policy. Students, visitors and contractors are likewise expected to take reasonable care for their own safety and to follow the health and safety instructions and procedures in place at our sites.
Communication
Malvern International will ensure continued consultation with employees to enable viewpoints and recommendations to be discussed at regular intervals, including through our Health and Safety Committee structure, notice boards and informal discussions.
Malvern International will ensure a systematic approach to identifying hazards, assessing risks, determining suitable and sufficient control measures and informing employees, students and others of the procedures needed to maintain a safe environment. We will provide, so far as is reasonably practicable, safe premises and systems of work, safe equipment, safe handling of materials and substances, the provision of adequate safety equipment, and appropriate information, instruction, training and supervision.
This statement is reviewed annually and is supported by our full Group Health and Safety Policy, which sets out our detailed arrangements in further detail.
