At Malvern House, we help students make friends and practise English by offering a weekly programme full of fun activities that also introduce local culture and traditions.

Learning English doesn’t only happen in the classroom. Our social programme has fun activities every day. You can meet new people, visit interesting places, and practise speaking English in real life.

Enjoy guided walks, museum trips, bowling, or even axe throwing! We also visit other cities and world-famous British heritage sites, such as Cambridge and Brighton, on weekend excursions (trips).

If you want to use your English for work or study, join our workshops, guest talks, and company visits.

Our social activities include a mix of teacher and non-teacher led activities at different times of the day. The events are varied and cater to a wide range of tastes. Ice-skating, roller disco, bowling, pizza and quiz, guided walking tours and boat tours, just to name a few, are a short sample of our extensive social activities offer which you can view on our social activities timetable.

Weekday activities

During the week, we will be visiting parks, markets and museums around London, or enjoy activities such as karaoke and bowling.

Most leisure activities at our English school in London are free. However, if there is an entrance cost to an activity on the social programme we will expect students to pay the entrance cost charged by the place of visit. Weekday trips may involve train travel and an entrance fee, with prices ranging from £5 to £10.

During the weekend, we offer our students one-day excursions to world-famous cities and heritage sites such as Oxford, Cambridge, Winchester and Canterbury, creating a great opportunity to learn about British culture, polish your English and take perfect pictures for your socials!

The average price of the weekend day trip is £30.

Manchester weekday activities

Most of the social activities outside the school are free of charge. These events are a great way to practise your English outside of your lessons. It is also an opportunity to make friends and chat to teachers away from the classroom. Your teacher will let you know about the next social activity in your lessons. Activities take place a few times per week and include: Bowling, games afternoon, museum and art gallery visits, go-karting, city trips (e.g. Liverpool, Chester), and football stadium trips and tours.

Manchester weekend activities

During the weekend, we offer students an opportunity to join one-day excursions (trips) to world-famous cities, such as Liverpool, and beautiful hertiage sites, such as Chatsworth Estate. Our weekend excursions typically cost £30 per person.
