With your full commitment, we guarantee that you will progress to the next level of English in line with the table set out below. If you do not progress within the time frame we will offer you additional support and extra tuition for free – this is our Progress Promise.

You can understand very basic, everyday phrases and may respond with short, simple answers. You can exchange basic personal information if the other person speaks slowly and clearly. Time period is 6 – 8 weeks.

You can interact in a simple way on concrete everyday subjects, such as family information, shopping etc. You can communicate in routine tasks on familiar subjects. Time period is 10 -12 weeks.

You can converse in a fairly limited way on your background, the immediate environment and on matters of direct need. You can express basic opinions and wishes. Time period is 10 – 12 weeks.

You can understand and respond to the main points in a variety of everyday situations and also more abstract topics, but have a limited range of style and expression. Time period is 12 – 16 weeks.

You can understand the main ideas of complex written and spoken texts. You can interact with reasonable fluency and accuracy on a fairly wide variety of topics. Time period is 12- 16 weeks.

You can express yourself fluently and spontaneously. You can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Time period is 12 – 16 weeks.

You can understand almost everything you hear or read. You can interact very fluently and precisely, even on very complex topics. Time period is 12 – 16 weeks.

This starts with precourse learning advice and careful placement in a class of the right level. You will also receive a unique Malvern House Progress Diary, full of useful information, where you can set goals and record your progress with your teacher’s help during individual progress tutorials.

There are weekly and monthly progress tests (in class and online) to consolidate learning and you have online access to your progress reports.
